Joseph Cook - Assignment 7

On this day in history, Oct 7, the great fire of London broke out. To be honest, this doesn't really affect me personally that much, but it did affect the 250 people who died and the 100000 who were left homeless. The city, being primarily wood, burned very quickly. This led to over $200 million worth of damages, which is over $3 billion in today's money. This may seem like a terrible event, It was. It killed people. It ruined peoples lives. It also left a lot of empty space. This space was used to rebuild London stronger (and more fire resistant). They built buildings out of stone instead of wood. they rebuilt everything to be better. The fire left London a clean slate, and the people built it up again. Their determination turned this from a tragedy to a not tragedy.
