Assignment 7 Dylan Spradlin

A historical date in American history occurred, September 17th, 1787, this was the date that the U.S. Constitution was signed. To many this may seem like a minuscule event, however it set precedent to how all American citizens have freedoms and inalienable rights today. The Constitution represents a bond of unity between government and individual, guaranteeing personal rights and liberties in which many have fought hard to achieve. To most, this document was seen as a good thing, in which laying the blueprint for a society of prosperity for a successful nation. This had a major influence on civil rights movements throughout the 1920's and 30's in order to maintain our freedoms as an independent and strong nation which protects our interests and rights for the common good. The document helped recognize the United States and its citizens as a powerful country. Without the Constitution, todays society could be anarchy and with all of our personal freedoms in danger, with no laws or regulations regarding what is right or wrong. Prior to this event, the US was a loose confederation of states, constantly in war with other nations, lacking a strong government or leadership, the Constitution helped to serve as a basis of individual and state's rights to create unity.
