1) The world is constantly changing- both for the better and for the worse. If you
could change time for one year, what
historical time period would you like to live in most?
2) In today’s world, multiple factors are considered in college
admissions and scholarship selection. If you had to choose, what should THE
single most important factor be? Why?
3) We have researched both the depths of the ocean as well as
traveling to other planets, specifically Mars. Based on current findings, which
one seems more important? Which option has the potential to provide more value
to society?
If I could spend one year in
history, I would want to be a part of drafting the constitution. I know, really
exciting, right? But during AP US, I have wondered why did people think what
they did during that time? What was their reasoning for having only an equal representation
of states, or only having a proportional system based on the population? Aside from politics, I would like
to be in the moment during innovations during that time such as the development
of a national mail service (shortly before Constitution, same time period). I
would like to see what family dynamics were like, what people did in their free
time, what did church look like. While we can learn about these things, it is
hard to accurately picture any part of
history without being there to experience it yourself.
It seems that sometimes we get
caught up living in the moment today, and don’t take a step back to see that if
it weren’t for what happened in the past, today would look different.
