Assignment 5 Dylan Spradlin

The twenty first century is often noted as the "age of technology"---where everyone has cell phones and are engaged almost exclusively with their screens instead of interacting with others. This is also seen in television and multimedia platforms, as the number of TV viewers (and Netflix) has also escalated in the past few years. Many people, including myself, watch TV solely for two main purposes entertainment and education. Often, we as a society are so drawn into drama and wanting to know every detail about our favorite celebrities, making programs such as TMZ and E! so popular. Also, sports programs are highly entertaining for a wide arrange of fans, who always support their favorite teams every week. However, television is also a way for advertisers to send a message to a wide audience, taking away from its main purpose---entertainment. We all know, that TV companies need to make money, so they will manipulate the schedule in the most profitable way (for example moving the Superbowl to Sunday night instead of a Wednesday). Some viewers see TV as a huge waste of time, whereas others rely on it for entertainment and news, but it also is a cycle which involves supply and demand.
