Assignment 8-Kathleen Gibbs

Fears: not achieving my dreams/failure
Annoyances: social norms, the presidential election, brands
Accomplishments: helping my golf team make it to state
Confusions: physics
Sorrows: lack of time to see the world
Dreams: to play as much competitive golf as possible, travel the world, have a family
Idiosyncrasies: I have a hard time sitting on the couch without a blanket and I can't go to bed without being under the covers.
Risks: being too adventurous, traveling alone
Beloved Possessions, Then and Now: my dog (then and now)
Problems: I can be too oblivious of situations and too loud

One thing that really annoys me in life, but especially in high school, is the constant focus on the brands of clothes and other such possessions. I just don't see why having a more expensive white t-shirt is better than a less expensive one if you are buying basically the same product. I am not at all saying that having nice things is not a good thing, but for the items like a pair of jeans, there is no need to spend exorbitant amounts of money when you could get an equally as great pair somewhere else. One thing I do not understand are people who never leave their hometown and see the world. While I understand that many people do not have the resources to take huge trips, others just don’t leave their city. I find that there is much value in exploring new cities, experiencing new cultures, eating new foods, and meeting new people.
