Fears are regarded as natural to everyone, but I believe that it is how one overcomes their fears that reveals ones true character. As a kid growing up, one of my biggest fears was heights, I always despised the thought of going far up into the air, and falling into a void of darkness. However, it wasn't very much later when my family decided for us to go hiking up one of the tallest mountains in the region. I was eleven at the time and full of fear, accompanied by my mother, father and fourteen year old brother. When we finally arrived after what seemed like a twenty four hour drive, my head began spinning as I felt nauseous. I thought to myself, what have I gotten myself into? Though, during the experience with the assistance of my family and others I felt protected, it was still very traumatic for me. As I grow up, my fear of heights is continuing, although I am glad I took the risk that which made me a stronger person.
