Assignment 5 - Erin Caudill

Our society has always been one subject to criticism, especially when it comes to caring more about glitz and glamour than intelligence. Personally, I've never been particularly interested in watching the Emmy's, or the Grammy's, or any other award show of that type, but I am also not the type of person to be terribly interested in hearing about who received a Nobel Prize. Do I necessarily think it's okay that the Emmy's get so much media attention while Nobel Prize winners are barely acknowledged by the media at all? Of course not, but it's no surprise that our society has gravitated towards covering what many would consider the "more exciting" awards. Hollywood celebrities are much more known by the average person, no doubt. The media is truly only doing its job to show people things and people that they know. As sad as it is, the majority of people won't ever be bothered to look up Nobel Prize winners because it's just something that seems to be ignored by a majority of society.
