Assignment 7-Elizabeth Ueland

Mother nature is often perceived as a caring icon to society. However, the multitude of natural disasters resulting from this “mother nature” strictly opposes this thought.  On October 11th 1737 an earthquake took the lives of 300,000 people and destroyed half of Calcutta India.  Some even wonder if it was a cyclone that left the city in rubble. Overflowing water from the Ganges River destroyed thousands of homes throughout the city. It is known as one of the most deadly and destructive still to this day. The catastrophic event left thousands of people devastated, but was not well recorded by eyewitnesses. Overall, this event was one of many natural disasters that struck India and has yet to be rivaled.

Natural disasters continue to strike places all over the world and leave people poor, wounded, and hopeless. Haiti has been susceptible to countless natural disasters and continues to suffer almost routinely. America also suffers it’s own degree of natural disasters as right now we are scraping through during he harsh wrath of hurricane Matthew. Natural disasters occur all around the world and upset millions but are ultimately-inevitable.
