Assignment 14 - Erin Caudill

Thanksgiving. What appears to be a peaceful, family-friendly holiday always tends to be chaos in my case. We always go have Thanksgiving "dinner" (it's at 3, that's not dinner OR lunch) with my dad's side of the family and they're all pretty great. Well, except for the weird part of the family. I'm saying this knowing that they probably think that my family is the weird part of the family, but that is definitely not the case. This part of my family is completely unavoidable.
Just picture this: You are sitting in the living room with your family having a nice and calm conversation, when it happens. The doorbell rings. No one moves and the conversation seizes. Your cousin gets up and walks slowly to the door. And as soon as the door is just barely cracked, you hear "OH MY GOODNESS! I HAVEN'T SEEN YOU ALL IN SOOO LOOONG! LOOK AT YOU ALL! OH MY GOODNESS!!!" And the tranquility is permanently stopped until they leave. The one perk is that you always have some great stories to tell when someone asks you what your Thanksgiving was like.
