Assignment 11 - Claire Thompson

When I was little, I was extremely terrified of mummies. If I went to a museum that had a mummy exhibit, I would be terrified, even if my parents promised me we wouldn’t go that area. But I was still so scared that I would turn the corner and see one. But now, I’m mainly afraid of situations I’ve made up in my head, public speaking, and death—all real life things. I mean, mummies are real, but they’re not actually scary. Things I used to be afraid of as a child now make up a lot of the things I enjoy today: African tribal masks, farm animals, horror movies, reptiles, etc. But now I mainly just worry about dying without making an impression on anyone or the world, and being kidnapped. I guess I’m more worried about realistic; the inevitability of death is more terrifying than barnyard animals or traditional masks.
