Assignment 3- Emma Tucker

In all of our favorite fictional worlds the line between good and evil are clear cut. You know that Batman will always defeat The Joker, Superman will save the day, and Spiderman will always ensure that New York City is safe. However, in the real world, the good and bad sides are not always clear. In fact, we aren't divided into good and bad, we all have a mix of good and bad in us.
The difference between good and evil are the decisions we choose to make. The morals and values we hold determine our hearts, and our hearts determine who we are. If we choose to do good, if we choose to be kind, if we choose to put our best efforts into improving the world, we can be good. But, it is impossible for us to choose to do the right thing every time. By nature we are imperfect and sinful. We will make the wrong decision at some point, or we will say something mean without thinking. These things don't mean that we are completely good, or that we are completely bad. It just proves that we live in a world that is imperfect. We all have the ability to do good or to do bad. What matters is what we put our effort into. Do we strive to say kind things, and help the world around us, or do we go out of our way to make life harder for the people around us.
Evil will never cease to exist. It is always going to be a part of life, no matter how much good we try to put in the world. However, if everyone focuses their hearts on the good, and strive to do good the good will balance the evil. It is so easy to focus on the bad that happens in the world, and at times it feels like it is swallowing the good. But, for every bad thing that happens a good thing comes out. If we take the time to focus on the beauty of the world instead of the fear inducing parts, we will remember the magic that will always exist in the world.
