Overall, I have enjoyed taking AP English Language and
Composition in this (mostly) fluid environment. In contrast to writing an essay
a week, or even multiple essays in a week, with little time in between to
reflect on successes and failures, I like that you incorporated multiple
methods for learning the content. For example, the visual literacy assignments
were nice to see analysis in a new light. In general, I could make the connections
between the content in the Visual Literacy projects to the AP content, however
some viewed them as an extra assignment that was unconnected to the English class.
Next year, I feel that it may be helpful to explicitly state the connections
between the projects and the analysis/argument essays on the AP test. I also
greatly appreciate the generous amount of work days that we had to not only
work on AP English assignments, but to also finish work for other classes too.
Despite the flexibility, and a lot of free time, I felt confident when I walked
in to take the AP test (the main goal of this class) and I believe that I did
well.
