Assignment 23- Nick Joseph

Playlist of the Best Songs for Long Drives
This is the absolute best playlist for a road trip to quite literally anywhere.  I made a conscious effort to include more than just my favorite genre, country.

1. Take It Easy (1972) by The Eagles:
This is just undeniably one of the best songs of all time, especially for a long drive.  This song is on this playlist because it makes multiple references to road trips.  This songs tops the list simply because it is one of my favorite classic songs.  Additionally, the line, "I’m running down the road tryin’ to loosen my load, I’ve got seven women on my mind," is perhaps one of the catchiest ever written.

2. Damn Country Music (2015) by Tim McGraw:
Tim McGraw is one of the all time greats, and this song is one of his best new works.  It tells the story of how a musician packed up everything to move to Nashville.  This song is on this list for its direct connection to driving long distances.  This song is number two largely due to the fact that it has been stuck in my head for the last month.

3. Highway 20 Ride (2008) by Zac Brown Band:
In my opinion, Zac Brown Band is one of the better country bands I have heard recently.  This song describes a father and his long journey to pick up his daughter from his ex-wife's house a few states away.  Truly a sad song, but it is on this list because it tells a story, and an interesting one at that.

4. Hotel California (1976) by The Eagles:
Yes, I know this is the second Eagles song on this playlist, but that is because they are one of the only classic rock bands I never get tired of.  While there is no direct reference to road trips in the song, I always enjoy listening to it in the car and I think you will too.

5. The Driver  (2015) by Charles Kelley:
This is another song I have heard a million times on the radio recently.  This song is written from the perspective of a truck driver, which makes it perfect for this playlist.  This song is catchy, and not in the annoying way that makes to want to lower the volume.
