Right now 6,235 miles away millions of people are suffering
with no end in sight. And when they try to escape these forsaken situations, no
helping hands are offered. The Syrian humanitarian crisis, entering its 5th
year of violence, left 12.2 million people in need of assistance, and over
220,000 people have been killed plus 1 million injured. The displacement of
Syrian refugees has forced almost 4 million people from their homes into
foreign environments of discrimination and more hardship. In Syria’s state,
many of the shelters and hospitals have been destroyed or severely damaged
leaving those who remained no assistance or escape. The water supply has dipped
below 50% of its pre-crisis levels, dwindling resources to a close. The state
at hand is not one to be ignored because for every second of our “right now”
the people just a continent away that second becomes another second of lost
hope.
